A Polícia Federal deflagrou nesta terça-feira (29/8) a Operação Zahir para desarticular uma organização criminosa que praticava ilegalmente a importação, o transporte, o armazenamento e o comércio clandestino de agrotóxicos argentinos. Sediado no extremo oeste catarinense, o grupo é responsável por internalizar agrotóxicos no Brasil, por meio da fronteira seca entre as cidades de Dionísio Cerqueira/SC, Barracão/PR e Bernardo de Irigoyen/AR.
Na ação de hoje, a PF deu cumprimento a cinco mandados de busca e apreensão, que foram expedidos pela Justiça Federal, nas cidades de Saltinho e Campo Erê em Santa Catarina e em Barracão, no Paraná.
As medidas judiciais objetivam a apreensão dos agrotóxicos de origem estrangeira clandestinamente importados, a apreensão dos veículos automotores utilizados nos crimes sob investigação, a apreensão de dinheiro em espécie e de outros ativos financeiros oriundos das práticas ilícitas, bem como a apreensão de documentos, celulares, computadores e outras mídias digitais, que possam auxiliar na completa elucidação do caso.
Além do crime de associação criminosa, os investigados na operação Zahir responderão também por crime ambiental. As penas somadas por tais crimes podem chegar a oito anos de prisão.
O nome da operação, Zahir, é uma palavra árabe quer dizer “algo muito presente, que não pode passar desapercebido”. Assim, como a ação da organização, que diante do volume de ilícitos praticados, não passou desapercebida.
